Sunderland stun Chelsea – Dylan reflects on his accumulator

It was another tough weekend of punting in the Premier League, and in the reverse of my parlay from Gameweek 8 which was undone on the final match of the weekend, Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Sunderland at Stamford Bridge took us out of the game early.

Things started off perfectly with Leeds and West Ham BTTS at 1.80 paying off in style. Leeds are proving to be a tough challenge on their return to the top flight, while West Ham are well and truly sleepwalking towards relegation.

Sunderland shocked Chelsea and it was the only punt to not payoff this weekend. A late winner from Chemsdine Talbi secured an impressive result for the Black Cats, who are now in fourth place, ahead of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City. Chelsea were valued at 1.37 with an unbeaten run and a 5-1 midweek win in the UEFA Champions League. Punters who backed Sunderland away from home were rewarded for their bravery, while confidence in Chelsea will take a dip going into the next round.

Arsenal extended their lead at the top table after a straightforward win against Crystal Palace, with yet another set-piece goal deciding Arsenal’s fate. A safe bet with odds of 1.41 paid off, the Gunners have the best squad in the League and are now comfortable title favourites.

Brentford put on a show against defending champions Liverpool in London. Three goals and a physically dominant performance, the Bees were deserved winners. Thankfully I did not back a result but decided on over 2.5 goals, valued at 1.52, which paid off nicely.

Finally to end off the accumulator, Wolves vs Burnley BTTS at 2.02 came off. Burnley were two goals up and looked good for their lead but a comeback from the home side put the result up in the air. South African striker Lyle Foster had the final say, sealing a massive win for Scott Parker’s side in extra-time.

The total odds of the accumulator were 10.62, and unfortunately Chelsea’s fumble at home to Sunderland ended the dream early.
